Historic Preservation

The West Side of Bethlehem is rich in history.  The neighborhood association has been active in promoting historic preservation in the area, supporting the establishment of the Mount Airy Historic District as well as researching and documenting the history of the areas outside the official historic district.

The Mount Airy Historic District, also known as Mount Airy Park, is a national historic district located at Bethlehem, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. The district includes 27 contributing buildings in a residential area of Bethlehem. It includes large, ornate residences built by Bethlehem Steel executives between 1910 and 1930. A few date as early as 1895; some were Montgomery Ward mail order homes. The area  was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
